Ilana Avital is an accomplished freelance knitwear designer who specialises in creating quirky, graphic and colourful fabrics.

Her fashion career in Italy, Madrid and London has developed into a career in textiles and fashion since 2005. After graduating with a BA in Textiles & Business studies at Brighton University, she was a finalist at the Texselect 2017 award and has exhibited at Chelsea College of Art and Premiere Vision Paris in 2017 and 2018.

Through her work she enjoys exploring innovative structures and intricate patterns alongside an exploration through colour. Inspiration often draws from art, culture and glimpses from her own creative practice.

Ilana has a diverse technical knowledge of knitwear, working with both domestic and industrial machinery, including crochet and hand knitting. She has a multidisciplinary interest in textiles; print, weave and embroidery, allowing her to challenge the concepts of knitwear design.

This process always precedes an extensive primary research and an ability to adapt to different design aesthetics. She is a creative individual who can perform under pressure and deliver within the fast-paced environment of her chosen industry.
